MALDI mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) data from controlled cortical impact (CCI) rats. [U-13C3]pyruvate was injected as bolus to each rat approximately 2 minutes prior to harvesting the brain tissue. MALDI MSI, including glutamate, glutamine, aspartate, malate, itaconate, succinate, lactate, pyruvate, and citrate from four groups of rats: 2 hour (n = 4), 2 days (n = 5), 5 days (n = 5), 10 days post-injury (n = 5). MALDI IHC, including NeuN, GFAP, and VIM were also collected from four groups of rats: 2 hour, 2 days, 5 days, and 10 days post-injury (n = 2/group).
