Camellia tamdaoensis is a perennial evergreen shrub of the Camellia family, Theaceae. It is mainly distributed in northern Vietnam. In this study, Illumina sequencing data were used to assemble the complete chloroplast genome sequence of C._tamdaoensis and submitted to NCBI (accession number: OP066526). The chloroplast genome is 156,633 bp in length, with an GC bias of 37.3%, including a large single-copy ( LSC ) region of 86,246 bp and a small single-copy ( SSC ) region of 18,284 bp, separated by a pair of inverted repeat (IR) regions of 26,050 bp. The complete genome contains 132 genes, including 89 protein-coding genes, 35 tRNAs and 8 rRNAs. A phylogenetic tree reconstructed from 26 complete chloroplast genomes indicates that C._tamdaoensis is a sister group to the C._aurea clade.
