The Paris Club Dataset 1956–2026 provides structured, agreement‑level data on all known sovereign debt restructuring agreements negotiated through the Paris Club of official creditors between 1956 and April 2026, covering 543 agreements by 102 debtor countries and approximately USD $863 billion in treated debt. The dataset was constructed by systematically scraping and reverse‑engineering the Paris Club’s official website (clubdeparis.org), followed by extensive manual cleaning, completion of missing agreements, and validation of monetary amounts and links in response to major website changes in 2025.
This dataset provides a significant update to the previous dataset published by Cheng, Díaz-Cassou and Erce in 2016, and also covers the agreements following the COVID-19 financial crisis. Available agreement-level meta-data includes debtor country, participating creditor countries, amounts treated, cancelled, and rescheduled, debt categories, treatment terms, cut‑off dates, repayment profiles, observer organizations, meeting chairs, debtor delegation heads, total external debt figures, and links to supporting documentation.
Files are provided in an Excel workbook (both long and tabular layouts, datatypes are maintained) and in two CSV versions (long machine‑readable format and tabular human‑readable format), accompanied by a detailed methodology document and README for reproducible use.
