Study Design: A cross-sectional observational study
Purpose: To determine the gender and age-specific running speed reference value among asymptomatic young Indian adults between 18-21 years
Methods: Participants will be recruited based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Demographic data will be collected and anthropometric measurements such as Body Mass Index (BMI), thigh length and true limb length will be taken. One leg Sit-to-Stand (STS) test will be used to measure the Lower Limb (LL) muscle strength. The normative data for running speed will be collected by using the 40-yard sprint test.
Significance: The achieved norms of this study can be used easily for approximating the performance of young adults in their daily life activities as well as for their health and fitness screening, profiling, monitoring and surveillance.
Keywords: Motor skills, Physical fitness, Young adults, Running
