Trust_as_Commons: Why Trust Matters for Community Health Insurance and UHC

Complete replication data for manuscript "Why Trust Matters for Community Health Insurance and Universal Health Coverage" (submitted for publication, 2026). This repository contains: • 169 community-based health insurance schemes (1986-2012) across 54 countries • Trust measurements for 216 countries from World Values Survey and regional barometers (2012-2022) • Complete source documentation and attribution for all data points • Replication code for all analyses and main figures Key finding: National levels of generalized trust predict community health insurance scheme sustainability with a correlation of r=0.83 (p<0.001), demonstrating that trust is a fundamental prerequisite for cooperative risk-pooling in informal sector contexts. All data are derived from publicly available sources with complete methodology documentation enabling independent replication and validation of findings. The repository includes three core datasets (schemes_dataset.csv, countries_dataset.csv, trust_data_sources.csv), comprehensive documentation (TRUST_DATA_EXTRACTION.md), and analysis scripts (R code).
