‘This is our life. It’s our stories, our history, our family’: a dialogic study of the Yanyuwa/Bradley archive, repatriation and the remediation of Indigenous knowledge with Yanyuwa Families of Borroloola.

Through audio-recorded interviews and ethnographic fieldwork with Yanyuwa families of Borroloola (Northern Territory), this study examines the contemporary significance of a multimedia archive co-created since 1980 by anthropologist John Bradley and Yanyuwa Families - a body of work that is still ongoing. Through a process of sharing or repatriating elements of the Yanyuwa/Bradley archive, including photographs, material culture items and animated films, this project dives into the ethics of archival repatriation and the challenges of remediating Indigenous Law and knowledge across generational divides in the context of rapid social and cultural change.
