Bamboo coral Ba/Ca calibration for seawater Ba and tropical North Atlantic intermediate water Ba reconstruction for the last 160 years

This dataset contains high-resolution geochemical records (Ba/Ca ratios) derived from cold-water bamboo corals (family Keratoisididae), used to reconstruct intermediate-depth dissolved barium concentrations ([Ba]sw) in the tropical North Atlantic over the past 160 years (1831–2013 CE). The dataset includes two primary components: Calibration Dataset: Ba/Ca data from 17 live-collected bamboo coral specimens across multiple ocean basins (720–3164 m depth) and ambient [Ba]sw to establish a global Ba/Ca calibration. Reconstruction Dataset: Sub-decadal Ba/Ca and reconstructed [Ba]sw time series from four tropical North Atlantic specimens (1409–1985 m depth), showing the structural shoaling of the North Atlantic Deep Water (NADW) since the ~1960s.
