This strain was isolated from a root nodule of Phaseolus albescens, a wild bean species. Rhizobium sp. CCGE 510 shows symbiotic defects when interacting with P. vulgaris (common bean). Genome sequencing and comparison of this strain with other common bean rhizobia is expected to help understand the genetic determinants required for a successful interaction with beans.
