1991-2000年全国疾病监测系统死因监测系统由分布在31个省的的145个疾病监测点组成，每个监测点有3-10万监测人口，共覆盖1000万监测人口（占中国总人口的百分之一）；由于该系统是根据分层整群随机抽样的原则建立的，其监测结果可代表全国人群。

The Cause-of-Death Surveillance Component of the National Disease Surveillance System, active from 1991 to 2000, comprised 145 disease surveillance points (DSPs) distributed across 31 provinces in China. Each DSP covered a population of 30,000 to 100,000 individuals, with a total covered population of 10 million, accounting for approximately 1% of China’s total population at that time. Established based on the principle of stratified cluster random sampling, the surveillance results of this system are representative of the overall Chinese population. This system primarily includes three surveillance modules: demographic surveillance, birth surveillance, and death (cause-of-death) surveillance. The demographic dataset contains population statistics stratified by calendar year, age group, sex, and individual surveillance point.
