The German Internet Panel (GIP) is an infrastructure project. The GIP serves to collect data about individual attitudes and preferences which are relevant for political and economic decision-making processes. The questionnaire contains numerous experimental variations in the survey instruments and an experiment which is identical across all questionnaires. For more information see the study documentation. Topics: possession of mobile phone, computer or laptop and tablet; mobile phone is Smartphone; Smartphone type; equipment used for Internet access; Social Media: use of different applications (such as Facebook, Instagram, etc.) on the Internet or as a mobile app; knowledge of the difference between an EU regulation and an EU directive; initiative of an EU directive; language skills in French, English, Spanish and Italian; knowledge of an important French institution; equal opportunities in work life in Germany; responsibility of the state for gender equality in work life; estimated share of women in supervisory boards of large publicly traded companies in Germany; support of the legal women´s quota for supervisory boards; most important reason for the support or rejection of the women´s quota; professional activity: number of coworkers; leading position; attitude towards work position; gender distribution of coworkers and of superiors; gender balance in the company; European Union (EU): meaning of the European Union for the respondent personally; voting behavior in a referendum on Germany´s remaining in the EU (Sunday question); attitude towards the EU (anti-europeanism); politics in the state of North-Rhine Westphalia (Saarland, Schleswig-Holstein): expected percent seats after the federal state elections for the parties CDU, SPD, Bündnis90 / Die Grünen, Die Linke, FDP, AfD and SSW; expected federal state government after the federal state elections; prediction federal state government: party of the Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, Minister of the Interior, and Minister of Education; party with the strongest assertiveness within the federal state government. Demography (assigned variables): sex; year of birth (categorized); highest educational degree; highest professional qualification; marital status; number of household members (household size); employment status; residence state; year of recruitment; German citizenship; private internet usage; current online status. Additionally coded was: Unique-ID, GIP; household identifier and person identifier within the household; date of the interview; assignment to experimental groups; survey evaluation (interesting, varied, relevant, long, difficult, too personal); assessment of the survey in total; activation of JavaScript; federal state from which the respondent participated in the survey; participation in the survey outside Germany; place from which the survey was conducted (at home, at work, at family or acquaintance, public place, on the road or elsewhere); permission to read out geodata.
