BER Performance Analysis for Digital Modulation Techniques in AWGN Channel of FSO Communication System with Low Attenuation Coefficient

BER is a potential methodology for examining digital transmission systems by providing a measurable and useful indication of system performance. If the BER rises within limit then the system performance will be obviously satisfactory. The paper represents BER performance of FSO communication system for a few number of digital modulation techniques: BPSK, QPSK, 4-QAM and 16-QAM in AWGN channel by exploiting the Matlab simulated BER versus SNR graphs. The numerical BER results indicate that BPSK modulation is comparatively better than other modulation techniques. In addition, High data rate transmission in FSO system can be performed by adapting additional digital modulation techniques: QPSK, 4-QAM and 16-QAM which are also explored in this paper. Moreover, the paper emphasizes on several modulation schemes with the consideration of low attenuation coefficient which is one of the challenge of data transmission for FSO communication system.
