Current Questions on Migration / Integration (September 2024)

The short survey on current questions on migration / integration was conducted by the Verian opinion research institute on behalf of the Press and Information Office of the Federal Government. During the survey period from 04.09.2024 to 10.09.2024, the German-speaking population aged 14 and over was asked about their attitudes to migration and integration in telephone interviews (CATI). The focus is on attitudes towards immigration in general, frequency of contact and experiences with people with a migration background as well as the perception of problems in connection with refugees in the local area. Respondents were selected using a multi-stage random sample as part of a multi-topic survey including landline and mobile phone numbers (dual-frame sample). Assessment of the influence of immigration on Germany as a whole in recent decades; reasons for rather positive/ rather negative influence of immigration on Germany (open question, coded answers); agreement with statements on the topic of immigration to Germany (integration of immigrants into German society has been successful overall so far, there are already so many immigrants living in Germany that no more can be taken in, immigrants are causing a very sharp rise in crime in Germany, I think it´s good that Germany is becoming more culturally diverse through immigration, Germany needs immigration, I think it´s good when Germany calls itself a country of immigration); frequency of contact with people with a migration background in the neighborhood, at work, at school or university, in the family or close relatives as well as among friends and acquaintances; assessment of experiences with people with a migration background in the neighborhood, at work, at school or university, in the family or close relatives as well as among friends and acquaintances; calls for restrictions on the right to asylum; concerns about the current number of refugees in Germany; short-term and long-term forecasts regarding the advantages or disadvantages for Germany of accepting refugees; perception of problems in connection with refugees in the local area.

Demography: sex; age; education; occupation; household size; number of people in the household aged 14 and over; party preference; voting eligibility; net household income; survey via mobile or landline.

Additionally coded: consecutive respondent number; weighting factor; interview date; location size (BIK location size and political location size); federal state; survey area west/east. Die Kurzumfrage über aktuelle Fragen zu Migration / Integration wurde vom Meinungsforschungsinstitut Verian im Auftrag des Presse- und Informationsamtes der Bundesregierung durchgeführt. Im Erhebungszeitraum 04.09.2024 bis 10.09.2024 wurde die deutschsprachige Bevölkerung ab 14 Jahren in telefonischen Interviews (CATI) zu ihrer Einstellung zu Migration und Integration befragt. Schwerpunkt ist dabei die Haltung zu Einwanderung allgemein, Kontakthäufigkeit und Erfahrungen mit Menschen mit Migrationshintergrund sowie die Wahrnehmung von Problemen im Zusammenhang mit Flüchtlingen im räumlichen Umfeld. Die Auswahl der Befragten erfolgte durch eine mehrstufige Zufallsstichprobe im Rahmen einer Mehrthemenbefragung unter Einschluss von Festnetz- und Mobilfunknummern (Dual-Frame Stichprobe). Bewertung des Einflusses von Einwanderung auf Deutschland insgesamt in den letzten Jahrzehnten; Gründe für eher positiven/ eher negativen Einfluss von Einwanderung auf Deutschland (offene Frage, codierte Antworten); Zustimmung zu Aussagen zum Thema Einwanderung nach Deutschland (Integration der Einwanderer in die deutsche Gesellschaft ist bisher alles in allem gut gelungen, in Deutschland leben schon so viele Einwanderer, dass keine weiteren aufgenommen werden können, durch Einwanderer steigt die Kriminalität in Deutschland sehr stark an, ich finde es gut, dass Deutschland durch Einwanderung kulturell vielfältiger wird, Deutschland braucht Einwanderung, ich finde es gut, wenn sich Deutschland als Einwanderungsland bezeichnet); Kontakthäufigkeit zu Menschen mit Migrationshintergrund in der Nachbarschaft, am Arbeitsplatz, in der Schule oder beim Studium, in der Familie oder näheren Verwandtschaft sowie im Freundes- und Bekanntenkreis; Bewertung der Erfahrungen mit Menschen mit Migrationshintergrund in der Nachbarschaft, am Arbeitsplatz, in der Schule oder beim Studium, in der Familie oder näheren Verwandtschaft sowie im Freundes- und Bekanntenkreis; Forderung nach Einschränkung des Asylrechts; Sorgen über die aktuellen Flüchtlingszahlen in Deutschland; kurzfristige und langfristige Prognose hinsichtlich der Vorteile oder Nachteile für Deutschland durch die Aufnahme von Flüchtlingen; Wahrnehmung von Problemen im Zusammenhang mit Flüchtlingen im räumlichen Umfeld.

Demographie: Geschlecht; Alter; Bildung; Berufstätigkeit; Haushaltsgröße; Anzahl der Personen im Haushalt ab 14 Jahren; Parteipräferenz; Wahlberechtigung; Haushaltsnettoeinkommen; Erhebung per Mobilfunk oder Festnetz.

Zusätzlich verkodet wurde: laufende Befragtennummer; Gewichtungsfaktor; Interviewdatum; Ortsgröße (BIK-Ortsgröße und politische Ortsgröße); Bundesland; Befragungsgebiet West/Ost.
