资源简介:
This series refers to the alienation of Crown Lands in the Settled Districts of the Port Phillip District. These Settled Districts were those defined by the Order-In-Council 1847 ( NSW Government Gazette, 7 October 1847) which identified them as being within a defined proximity to Melbourne, Geelong, Portland and Alberton and those lands within three miles of the sea.Under the heading of individual parish and district, listed are the number of the allotment and section, the area in acres, roods and perches, the name of the purchaser if the allotment had been sold and remarks. Here, details were given of whether a particular piece of land was to be a village reserve, whether it was an identifiable locality such as a homestead and any occupation licence pertaining to the land. These lands include purchases made at public auction and may include those made under pre-emptive right.Further details of these land purchases may be able to be found in VPRS 80 Auctioneers Reports of Land Sales by Public Auction, VPRS 122 Outward Letter Books (particularly those volumes containing responses to land applications) and VPRS 16 Outward Letter Books to Local and Sydney.
