The aim of this study is to understand the mechanism of the NaHCO3-responsiveness phenotype, whereby certain MRSA strains are sensitized to beta-lactams by NaHCO3 exposure. Whole genome sequencing was performed on NaHCO3-responsive and non-responsive MRSA, so that specific variations between these two phenotypes could be analyzed at a genetic level.
