Dataset 2: Pan Trap Dataset For Grassland/Woodlot

In our group we had five members: Farkhanda, Reema, Olivia, Ratiba and Huda.

The data was collected at york univesrity field area near by the buses stand at the woodlots and grassland. This was done on September 30th, 2015 at 3:15 pm. The temperature was cold that day and there was construction noise, birds noise, busses noise, small insect noise, sunny , cloudy and cold febreeze.  Also there were many trees in the woodlots and lots of grass and different kind of plants and insects in grass land. Most of the grassland was dead due to change of weather.

The material was used during the experiment are: transect, twizers, soapy water, magnify glass and diferent pan colours (18).

Arround 3:15 pm the transect was laid in 10 meters, the nine pan was placed in that transect at random places in grasslans. The pan was filled with soapy water to trap the insects that was there during the obervation. Later on at 3:27 pm another transect was laid in 10 meters with nine pan at random sopts in the woodlot. After the pans were laid the transect were removed. At 5:00 pm the location of pans were revisted and the bowls were observed and the data was recorded by looking at the number of abundance, type of species, and the number of RTUs. RTUs mean recognizable taxonomic units. It means different type of insects can be identified in each pan which is filled with soapy water in grassland and woodlot. At the end the bowls were emptied.
