The Future of Scientific Publication A Four-Level Evolutionary Framework

Scientific communication is undergoing its most profound transformation since Gutenberg. We present a four-level evolutionary framework describing how scientific publishing is evolv- ing and document that the first two levels are already operational, implemented by the @5in- cere5cience collaborative research team in 2026. Level 0 (single-format, pre-AI) is the inherited status quo. Level 1 (Dual Format) was formalised in our companion paper and is already implemented across our publication series. Level 2 (Agent-Tutored Format)—publications de- signed exclusively for AI agents acting as human tutors—is already operational, exemplified by Thermodynamics Rhapsody (160+ pages). Level 3 (Cinema Just-in-Time)—real-time, person- alised audiovisual scientific communication generated by each reader’s personal AI agent—is the declared next step, pending the necessary computational architecture. This paper is both the roadmap and the record: we are not predicting the future. We are documenting what we have already built, and are declaring what we will build next.
