PathoTiroid Dataset Indonesian Collection (PTIC): Histopathology Image Dataset for Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma

This is the latest version of the PTIC dataset. The update includes correction of the final patient count, revision of the file naming structure, and improved metadata documentation. Image labels remain unchanged. About:The PTIC dataset contains 1,006 H&E-stained histopathology image patches of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), sourced from 46 whole-slide images (WSIs) of 24 anonymized patients from national referral hospital in Indonesia. Data composition:The dataset includes 490 PTC-like and 516 non-PTC-like images, each extracted from annotated regions of interest at 40× magnification and stored in JPG format at 1916 × 1053 pixels. The dataset is organized into two main directories: PTC-like and non-PTC-like. Data organization:All images are organized by patient and whole-slide image (WSI) identifiers. The naming convention follows the format: patientID_WSIID (patchNumber).jpg. For example, 1_1 (1).jpg indicates the first extracted patch from WSI 1 of patient 1. All images within each directory correspond to validated labels. Data collection:The PTIC dataset was derived from hematoxylin and eosin (H&E)-stained thyroid tissue slides, digitized using a LEICA Aperio GT450 whole-slide scanner at 40× magnification, corresponding to a spatial resolution of approximately 0.26 μm/pixel. Representative regions of interest (ROIs) were annotated by expert pathologists and extracted as high-resolution image for further analysis. Data usage:The PTIC dataset was created to support reproducible AI model development and benchmarking in papillary thyroid carcinoma histopathology research. Its standardized structure and expert-validated labels support tasks such as image classification.
