Additional file 1: Table S1. Accessions of the species used in the present study and their collection locations. All Jaltomata seed material provided by Dr. Thomas Mione at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU); S. pimpinellifolium seed provided by the Tomato Genetics Resource Center at UC Davis. Table S2. Summaries of average floral organ size at different stages of development across species. Table S3. Relative growth rates for floral organs for the examined species, measured against bud diameter, for early stages only, mid + late stages only, and overall development. Measurements were log-transformed prior to analysis. Significant differences against baseline indicated by * (*p < 0.05; **p < 0.001; ***p < 0.0001), with black against J. darcyana, red against S. pimpinellifolium (alternate ancestral rotate), and blue against J. darcyana + S. pimpinellifolium (“composite” ancestral rotate); significant differences between J. calliantha and J. dendroidea (convergent campanulate) indicated by ^ (^p < 0.05; ^^p < 0.001; ^^^p < 0.0001).
