In this study, we sequenced the first complete mitochondrial genome of a leaf oyster - Isognomidae - species, Isognomon nucleus, filling an essential gap in the pearl oyster superfamily Pterioidae, a commercially relevant group with worldwide occurrence. Furthermore, we provide a baseline for future pearl-oyster phylogenetic studies and eventual investigations on the presence of Double Uniparental Inheritance of mtDNA in Isognomidae.
