Data on the antihyperglycemic, antioxidant and pancreatic beta-cell protective effects of the methanolic extract of P. alliacea in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats

The present study focused on the antidiabetic potential of the methanolic extract of Petiveria alliacea (MPA) leaves following STZ induction in rats with diabetes, which leads to pancreatic beta cell dysfunction. The fasting blood glucose and body weight data are shown in Fig. 1 and Table 1, respectively. The serum insulin, HOMA-IR, and HOMA-β β scores of diabetic rats and MPA-treated animals are included in Table 2. The in vivo antioxidant potentials (SOD, CAT, MDA, and GSH) are shown in Table 3. The data were analyzed with SPSS Statistics V23.0 and GraphPad Prism 8.4. The results are presented as the means ± standard deviations (SDs).
