Genome assembly of the sea turtle Natator depressus

Flatback sea turtles <i>Natator depressus</i> are native to Australia, and rarely travel far from home. In fact, flatbacks have the smallest geographic range of all their relative sea turtles. They have only been found to live in the northern waters of Australia. However, they will occasionally travel to the Tropic of Capricorn or the coastal waters of Papua New Guinea to feed. <br>In this study we report the genomic sizes for haplotype-separated chromosome-scale assemblies for <i>N. depressus</i> are ~2.1 Gb, with contig N50 ~77 Mb. The annotated genes are 25,069 and 26,687 for Haploype 1 and Haplotype 2, respectively.
