Code accompanying the publication: "Variability of ice supersaturated regions at flight altitudes: evaluation of ERA5 reanalysis using IAGOS in situ measurements"

This code supports the figures created for the manuscript "Variability of ice supersaturated regions at flight altitudes: evaluation of ERA5 reanalysis using IAGOS in situ measurements". The aim is to investigate differences in ice supersaturated regions (ISSRs) between the ERA5 reanalysis dataset and IAGOS in situ measurements, and the variabilities affecting such differences. This is important for understanding how to reduce persistent contrail formation by avoiding ISSRs. The code enables the comparison of temperature, relative humidity over ice, and frequency of ice supersaturated regions as found with the IAGOS in situ measurements and the ERA5 reanalysis dataset from seasonal, vertical, and regional perspectives. Additional analysis includes the impact of cloudy and clear-sky conditions on the differences in ice supersaturation between IAGOS and ERA5.
