Whole Genome Sequecing of Bangladeshi Native Chicken

Bangladesh has some fantastic native chicken varieties of which Common Deshi (CD) or Non-descript Deshi, Hilly (HL), and Naked Neck (NN) chicken are notable for their egg production, meat quality, extraordinary survivability in harsh natural conditions and resistance against some common poultry diseases. Here we report on the whole genome sequencing of 96 Bangladeshi chickens - 48 local village birds (unimproved) and 48 improved birds (improved by Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute, BLRI) of the same three breeds.
