Dataset for: Dispersant Corexit 9500A and chemically dispersed crude oil decreases the growth rates of the meroplanktonic barnacle nauplii (Amphibalanus improvisus) and tornaria larvae (Schizocardium sp.)

This dataset reports lengths of Amphibalanus improvisus nauplii and Schizocardium sp. larvae exposed to crude oil emulsions, dispersant-treated crude oil emulsions, or dispersant alone after 48 hours. Animals were collected from surface water using a plankton net and isolated in the laboratory. The length of 30 – 40 individual Schizocardium sp. larvae after 48 hours exposure to different concentrations of crude oil (1 , 5, 10 uL/L), dispersant-treated crude oil (1, 5, 10 uL/L) and dispersant (0.05, 0.25, 0.5 uL/L) are reported in this dataset. As are the lengths of 31-43 individual A. improvisus nauplii after 72 hours exposure to crude oil (1 uL/L), dispersant-treated crude oil (0.05 uL/L), and dispersant (1 uL/L). Length-specific growth rates for both barnacle nauplii and tornaria larvae were calculated and are provided for each replicate and treatment. Additionally the percent mortality for barnacle nauplii after 72 hours is included in this dataset.
