Escherichia coli K-12 MG1655 can grow as a cell wall-deficient L-form. This adaptation requires specific genetic mutations for L-form bacteria to replicate without a cell wall. We developed a novel E. coli K-12 MG1655 L-form strain and investigated its proliferation through RNA sequencing.
