Yb0.5Co3Ge3 is a candidate Kagome Kondo Lattice (KKL) showing a resistivity minimum near 25 K (Kondo onset), a T-linear downturn below ~5 K, and an in-plane Kagome distortion below ~50 K while remaining magnetically disordered to 2 K. The long-range structure of Yb0.5Co3Ge3 is a hybrid of the YCo6Ge6 and CoSn structure types resulting in a statistical distribution of Yb atoms in the structure. As such, disentangling the local structure is paramount to understanding the interplay of KKL behaviour. In this experiment, the local structural effects will be disentangled from the long-range average structure through a combination of high-resolution diffraction and total scattering PDF analysis, through powder diffraction measurements at ID22. The results will provide a local-structure understanding of Kondo coherence in a Kagome metal, offering key experimental insights into a unique crystalline system.
