Mellon Sawyer Seminar on Marine Environmental History

Our group includes three faculty, one postdoc, and several graduate students all interested in different aspects of human-environment relations in marine and coastal contexts. Our unifying goal is to better understand how patterns of change and continuity shape these environments over time and space, and how a better understanding of history--from the distant past to very recent events--shapes politics, policy, and management. Throughout the year, we'll be speaking with scholars and practitioners who think about these issues from diverse perspectives.
