VPRS 12932 Committee Records

This series comprises the documentation collected or created by the Public Works Committee (VA 4091) in the course of its activities in considering and reporting to the Governor in Council on public works, and from 1938 other, proposals referred to it by the Governor in Council.A range of documents was either created or collected by the Committee in the course of each specific reference. Although the range of documents created per reference will vary, the following broad categories of documents were generally created during all or most of them:-Background papers comprising copies of printed material, reports etc gathered by the Committee in the course of initial research into the matter to be investigated.Correspondence files relating to either the actual investigation or organisational aspects of the inquiry.Submissions tended by individuals or organisations during the investigation stating their views on the issues concerned. Some submissions were also received in response to public hearings or issue of the final report.Transcripts of public hearings which may have been held. Copies of the transcripts, which were forwarded to the various participants for amendments or corrections may be included.Reports including the final printed copy as presented to the Governor in Council containing the Committee's recommendations.It would appear that the great majority of these documents were maintained within bound files. It would appear that only printed copies of the final report or documents received/consulted by the Committee were not placed on file.
