Replication Package for: Inflation's Influence on the Effectiveness of Public Education Expenditure: Evidence from Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America

This replication package contains all data, code, and supplementary materials for the paper "Inflation's Influence on the Effectiveness of Public Education Expenditure: Evidence from Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America." The study examines the conditioning role of inflation on the growth returns to public education expenditure across 115 emerging and frontier economies in Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America over 1970–2023. Using Pooled Mean Group (PMG) estimation, IV-2SLS, and System GMM, the paper establishes that the growth return to public education is entirely conditional on the inflation environment. The Francophone–Anglophone split within Sub-Saharan Africa serves as a quasi-natural experiment, with CFA franc monetary discipline activating the education–growth nexus. The package includes the panel dataset, Stata 19 do-files for all estimations and robustness checks, and output tables. All materials are provided to ensure full reproducibility of the results reported in the paper.
