The mitogenome of hard ground barasingha was recorded 16407bp in size, with an average coverage of 50.85X with the reference sequence JN632696. The total length of concatenated 13 protein coding genes (PCGs) in the mitogenome of the species was found to be 11461bp which accounted for 69.85% of the complete mitogenome. The A+T content of the 13PCGs in the mitogenome was estimated to be 62.31%. The G+C content of the transfer RNA (tRNA) genes ranged from 20.3% (trnArg) to 45.2% (trnAsn). All t RNA gene sequences formed secondary cloverleaf structures, except trnSer2. Two repeated hepta nucleotide motifs (‘ttttccc’ and ‘gtacata’) were observed in the control region. Tha At and GC skews of protein coding genes were compared with other members cervidae family.
