A prevalent nosocomial pathogen in hospitals, Acinetobacter baumannii (ABI) causes infections in the skin, bloodstream, respiratory tract, and urinary tract, among other body systems. Opportunistic infections in long-term patients are frequently caused by ABI contamination in hospitals. One of the main causes of death for people with compromised immune systems is multi-drug-resistant ABI (MDRABI) strains.The bacteria ABI does not digest sugar and is aerobic in nature. It can move with pili to twitch, but it does not form filaments. Along with five other bacteria: Enterobacter spp., Enterococcus faecium, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Staphylococcus aureus, the World Health Organization (WHO) classifies ABI as a particularly significant antibiotic-resistant bacterium. Alternative treatments for MDR bacteria, including ABI, have been advocated due to the limited scope for creating new antibiotics. Alternative treatment option like phage therapy has emerged as a viable method for treating MDR bacteria.
