These tariffs apply to the following cemeteries and crematoria Atlantis, Bellville, Constantia, Delft, Dido Valley, Durbanville, Goedehoop, Gordon's Bay, Gugulethu, Hout Bay, Kuils River, Kleinvlei, Klip road, Klip North, Klip West, Khayelitsha Gate 1, Khayelitsha Gate2; Kraaifontein; Langa, Lwandle, Maitland, Modderdam, Mfuleni 1, Mfuleni 2; Muizenberg, Metro South East, Ocean View, Ottery, Pinelands, Plumstead, Seaforth, Somerset West, Old Strand, Sir Lowry's Pass, Rusthof, Vaalfontein; Welmoed, Wallacedene Cemeteries. Cremation services are included in the tariff schedule should the need arise and a new lease is introdued which requires City to receive the income from Cremations. NOTE: Tariffs on Saturday are charged at "one and a quarter" times the normal tariff and "one-and-a-half times" the normal tariff for Sundays and Public Holidays, to create an incentive for weekday burial and offset the staff overtime rates. DEFINITIONS: Monumental Grave Private grave with Full Monumental rights (Headstone and kerbing/ slab) Berm Grave Private Grave with limited Monumental rights (Headstone on concrete foundation only). Nothing except grass allowed on the surface of the grave. Public Grave Non Private Grave which may be used for burial of another unrelated person (on top) after a minimum of 5 years. No headstones/memorials allowed, only crosses. Cremation The process whereby disposal of human remains in a coffin is reduced by fire to produce ashes or cremated remains. Mausoleum Above ground concrete burial crypts housed in the shape of a building. Memorial Tree A Tree planted in Memory of a deceased person. Ash Burial Plots Miniature graves for inground burial of Ash boxes/urns/ Cremated remains. Memorial Garden /Precinct Designated area of cemetery for Memorialisation of High Profile people. Pauper A person who dies in povity and may be unidentified or unclaimed by the next of kin. A recipient of a pauper burial under the Provisions of the Health Department Destitute A destitute person means a person who has died in destitute circumstances within the geographic boundaries of the City, where no Funeral; Cover, Policy, Deceased Estate, nor relatives are in the position to pay for funeral costs. Furthermore no other person, NGO, Religious or Welfare organisation has come forward to pay for the burial or cremation of the deceased person. Memorial Works Permit- Permit applied for by Stonemason/family to request permission to erect a memorial on a private grave Heroes Grave Grave for commemoration of heroes and high profile persons who have served South Africa or served a cause pertaining to political or social change, is a means to recognise and celebrate the brave acts of people from a variety of different backgrounds. A. GRAVE PRICES Weekend and Public Holiday surcharges apply to all denominations, exluding Muslim and Jewish Allotments, as these burials must take place the same day as death or as soon as possible thereafter. Surcharge on Saturday Burials A surcharge of 25% is charged for Saturday burials, surcharge of 50% on Sundays and Public Holidays, rounded to the nearest rand, as an incentive to encourage burials during the week. 1. Adult Burials Monumental- Private Vacant Private grave of varying depth with full monumental rights. Right to subsequent burials is subject to available depth and soil conditions and therefore cannot be guaranteed. Berms -Private (Headstones only) Berm graves are private graves which demand less space, lower maintenance and are limited to a Headstone only.Right to subsequent burials is subject to available depth and soil conditions and therefore cannot be guaranteed. Burial Adult - Public (1 Coffin) Non Private Grave which may be used for burial of another unrelated person (on top) after a minimum of 5 years. No headstones/memorials allowed, only crosses. Heroes and High Profile persons Grave A grave dedicated to a Hero, High profile or commemorated person 2. Child Burials Monumental-Private Vacant Private grave of varying depth with full monumental rights. Right to subsequent burials is subject to available depth and soil conditions and therefore cannot be guaranteed. Berms - Private (Headstones only) Berm graves are private graves which demand less space, lower maintenance and are limited to a Headstone only. Right to subsequent burials is subject to available depth and soil conditions and therefore cannot be guaranteed. Burial Child - Public Non Private Grave which may be used for burial of another unrelated person (on top) after a minimum of 5 years. No headstones/memorials allowed, only crosses. B. MULTIPLE BURIALS Adult/Child Burials 2 coffins in one grave, same day. Charge per grave and record captured of both decedents . Child coffin may be buried, with adult coffin and Adult grave is charged. Pauper Burials- Unknown/unclaimed 3 coffins in one grave buried on the same day in a public grave. No charge to service provider on Tender for Pauper services. C. RE-OPENING FEE PRIVATE No re-opening of a public grave. E. PAUPERS / DESTITUTE PERSONS Destitute burial or cremation: Applications are subject to approval by the City Health Department and are done in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Policy for Destitute Burial/Cremation and awarded Tender. Public grave is provided to the City approved service provider at no charge for burial F. GRAVE RESERVATIONS Only applies to renewal of existing reservations. No new reservation are currently allowed. In the event of the person's death within the renewal period, no refunds are applicable. K. MAUSOLEUM CRYPTS Proposed Discount aims to encourage the sale of Mausoleum Crypts as a space intensive alternative to in ground burial, to create public awareness and increase popularity of this alternative. 3. PENALTY : Dishonoured/Unpaid payments in respect of cheque (Only for Insufficient Funds); Refer to Drawer; Effects not Cleared & Payment stopped, Debit card, Credit card and Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) Penalty as per the approved Finance Revenue Sundry Tariff Schedule, and issued in accordance with the Credit Control and Debt Collection Policy, as amended from time to time.
