资源简介:
Cerebral malaria (CM) is a neurological dysfunction associated to neuroinflammatory mechanisms that culminate in the breakdown of the blood-brain barrier, leading to dysfunctions in the cerebral parenchyma. TNF-α is a major proinflammatory mediator and one of the main cytokine involved in the disease outcome. Currently, several studies seek for new therapies in order to reduce the damage resulting from the infection. Melatonin is described as a hormone capable of modulating neuroinflammation, presenting itself as a hormone with high capacity of neuroprotection.
