In the context of emerging newer form of antimicrobial resistance multidrug resistance (MDR),extensively drug resistance (XDR), and pan drug resistance (PDR) in pathogens, bacteriophages remain a promising alternative antimicrobial weapon to control it. Bacteriophages were isolated from sewage and their antimicrobial activity was examined against a range of 24 AMR strains of E. coli. The bacteriophage EC-S-24, was found to be lytic to 22 AMR strains of E.coli. The isolated phage could be useful in reducing the use of antibiotics in aquaculture farms.
