This dataset contains the data associated with the article:
Nieuwenhuis, Brian O., Charlotte Turlier, Ioana-Andreea Ciocănaru, Benja Blaschke, Malika Kheireddine, Guido Leurs, Jesse E. M. Cochran, Laura L. Govers, and Burton H. Jones. 2026. "Fine-scale habitat partitioning of sympatric stingrays revealed by drone-based remote sensing and deep learning".
In this study we investigated stingray habitat partitioning in a coastal lagoon in the central Red Sea through drone-based surveys. We conducted 30 aerial transect surveys (~17 ha each) and actively tracked 40 rays and 1 shark (total tracking time > 23h). This dataset contains all raw drone imagery from these surveys (77,712 tracking images and 32,216 transect images), a subset of 3,683 annotated images in YOLO format, and all other data associated with the manuscript.
The datasets contains the following folders/files, the contents of which are explained in the included readme.txt file:
- Core_data_Nieuwenhuisetal_Drone_Rays.xlsx
- Annotated_YOLO_Dataset.zip
- Appendix_E_Videos.zip
- Images_SfMSurveys.zip
- Images_TrackingSurveys.zip
- Images_TransectSurveys.zip
- Python_codes.zip
- Reflectance_maps.zip
