This study examines the water chemistry of ephemeral streams flowing in a heterogeneous alpine-subalpine catchment within the Niwot Ridge Biosphere Preserve. The objective of the study was to quantify spatial patterns of nutrient flow within the ecosystem. This will contribute to the larger goal of locating and characterizing hotspots of biogeochemical activity. Water samples were collected on the morning of June 10th using the standard sample collection procedure used by Niwot LTER hydrologists. Samples were processed in the Kiowa lab, again using standard procedures.
