This dataset contains the raw and processed micro-computed tomography data for characterizing the internal three-dimensional microstructure of bidirectional pultruded pultruded glass fiber/polypropylene composite plates of three different layup configurations. The data provides a detailed view of fiber orientation, distribution, and manufacturing-induced defects such as voids and resin-rich areas The dataset is organized as follows: 1. Raw/Reconstructed µ-CT Scans:The primary data is provided in compressed 7-Zip archives (`.7z`). The filenames correspond to specific samples and scanned regions (e.g., Sample 5, Center/Left/Right regions). These archives contain stacks of 2D image slices (in 16-bit TIFF format) that can be reconstructed into a 3D volume. Sample Group 5 (5/6 Layup): Configuration [0, 90, 90, 0, 90, 0, 90, 0, 90, 90, 0]. Corresponding files: 5-C.7z, 5-L.7z, 5-R.7z. Sample Group 7 (7/4 Layup): Configuration [0, 90, 0, 90, 0, 0, 0, 90, 0, 90, 0]. Corresponding files: 7-C.7z, 7-L.7z, 7-R.7z. Sample Group 9 (9/2 Layup): Configuration [0, 90, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 90, 0]. Corresponding files: 9-C.7z, 9-L.7z, 9-R.7z. Prepreg Tape (Reference): The initial thermoplastic tape used in the pultrusion process. Corresponding file: 10.7z. 2. Processed Data and Analysis Results:Supporting files include processed data and summary results derived from the µ-CT scans. mechanical_properties.docx - the experimentally measured mechanical properties of the composite samples. fiber_orientation_analysis_results.docx - the results of the fiber orientation tensor analysis. resin_areas.docx - the analysis of resin-rich areas and void content. row_fiber_orientation.7z & layers_processing.7z - archives containing intermediate data files used for the fiber and layer-level analysis. Technical specifications:Imaging System: GE Phoenix v|tome|x L240Voxel Size: 3.0 µmScan Parameters: Voltage: 100 kV, Beam current: 99µA, Projections: 2401 per volume, Exposure time: 1.5s.Analysis Software: ImageJ, VoxTex. This dataset can be used for validating multi-scale material models, developing new image analysis algorithms for composite materials, and understanding the relationship between pultrusion process parameters and the final part microstructure and performance.
