The database on rural children’s mental health and its influencing factors

With the accelerated urbanization, the gap between urban and rural areas in terms of educational resources has gradually increased, and the healthy growth of rural children needs more attention. To understand the mental health of rural children and its influencing factors, we conducted a survey in 16 rural elementary schools in seven provinces in 2021. Finally, 2498 valid questionnaires were collected. The results found that the depression detection rate of rural children was 24.49%, and 25.72% reported moderate or severe anxiety symptoms. This database has a wide range of applications and can be used for in-depth data mining using a variety of statistical analysis softwares and methods. Through the analysis of this database, the research results can provide empirical data for researchers or policy makers, and help promote subsequent research and the construction of a mental health evaluation and service system for rural children.
