This study used RootPainter to automatically quantify Enchytraeus crypticus juveniles in soil toxicity tests. Toxicity tests were performed in four different soils following OECD guideline 222. After 21 days, enchytraeids were extracted from the soil and each sample was divided into six sections which were subsequently photographed. The number of juveniles were counted manually and by training a model in RootPainter.
