This dataset contains the co-occurrence tables and Sankey diagrams obtained from a qualitative coding process applied to open-ended questions on introductory quantum physics. The analysis was conducted within the framework of a philosophical teaching strategy designed to foster higher-order critical thinking skills—analysis, synthesis, and evaluation—among engineering students. Coding relationships were identified using Atlas.ti, and the data derive from two independent cohorts analyzed in 2024
