Leading oil and gas discoveries in Africa 2019

As of 2019, the largest discovery made by the oil and gas industry in Africa was in Mauritania. The discovery, done by BP, estimated new resources of gas by over 1.3 billion barrels of oil equivalent on the coast of the Northwest African country.
