Investigation of the microbiota composition associated to 10 gastrointestinal tracts, from the rumen to the rectum, of a pre-weaned 30 days lamb.

A Sarda lamb, fed mother's milk but free to graze the barn forage was sacrificed at 30 days after birth, and ten different gastrointestinal tracts (rumen, reticulum, omasum, abomasum, duodenum, jejunum, ileum, cecum, colon, and rectum) were collected.Luminal and mucosal contents were collected from each tract and subjected to DNA extraction. V4 (V4 hypervariable region of the 16S rRNA gene) libraries were constructed and DNA sequencing was performed in duplicate with the Illumina MiSeq sequencer with the paired-end method and 201 cycles of sequencing.
