gut metagenome

The stick insect Sipyloidea inexpectata was collected from tropical Philippines. Colonies were reared from egg hatch to the second instar at 25 C with a 12 h light:12 h dark photoperiod and 60-70% relative humidity, and fed fresh Psidium guajava leaves. At the second instar, 15 individuals were exposed to 8 C for 24 h, while 15 controls were maintained at 25 C. All samples were flash-frozen in liquid nitrogen and stored at -80 C for RNA extraction, transcriptome profiling, and qRT-PCR validation.
