Have We Found a New Explanation for the Universe? Luke Aberdein and Jake Strydom Invite Scientists to Examine Their Black Hole Universe Idea By Luke Aberdein and Jake Strydom Grade 10 Students, WBHS What if our entire universe exists inside an unimaginably large black hole? This is the question that led us to develop an idea that connects black holes, Hawking radiation, and the Big Bang into one possible explanation for the origin of the universe. Our reasoning begins with a black hole far larger than any known today—one on the scale of the observable universe. We argue that if a black hole were this enormous, the conditions inside it could be very different from those inside smaller black holes. Gravity would still exist, light would still travel, and the laws of physics could appear normal to everything living within it. We also considered the immense distance between the event horizon and the region where tidal forces become destructive. Based on our calculations, we believe this distance could allow an incredibly long period before reaching the destructive region, leading us to ask whether our universe could exist inside such a black hole. The second part of our idea focuses on Hawking radiation. We propose that when a universe-sized black hole reaches the end of its lifetime and completely evaporates, it could release an extraordinary amount of energy. We believe this event could create conditions similar to those associated with the Big Bang, giving rise to a new universe. If this is correct, it would suggest that our universe may have formed from the death of a black hole in an older universe. Likewise, our own universe could one day produce another universe, continuing an endless cosmic cycle. We recognize that this idea challenges current scientific thinking. That is why we are sharing it publicly. We invite physicists, astronomers, cosmologists, mathematicians, and researchers around the world to examine our reasoning, test our calculations, and determine whether our idea has scientific merit. Science advances by questioning existing ideas, proposing new explanations, and testing them against evidence. Whether our hypothesis is ultimately confirmed or disproved, we hope it encourages discussion and further investigation into one of the greatest mysteries of all time.
