Concentrations of trace elements measured in plants and soils at Lhù'ààn Mân' (Kluane Lake, Yukon Territory, Canada)

We sampled three plant species soapberry (Shepherdia canadensis), white spruce (Picea glauca), and twinflower (Linnaea borealis) with stainless-steel knife scissors, at 14 sites. We sampled different plant parts: fine (< 1 mm) and medium (3 to 5 mm) roots, leaves or needles, stems, and berries or flowers when possible. The parameters measured were Titanium (Ti) (mg/kg), nickel (Ni) (mg/kg), copper (Cu) (mg/kg), arsenic (As) (mg/kg), cadmium (Cd) (mg/kg), and lead (Pb) (mg/kg) in the three plant species. Soil horizons were also sampled using a stainless-trowel from the surface down to the bedrock at each site. The parameters measured were conductivity (ms/cm), pH, dissolved organic carbon (DOC) (mg/L), nitrates (NO3) (mg/kg), phosphates (PO4) (mg/kg), sulfates (SO4) (mg/kg), sodium (Na) (mg/kg), potassium (K) (mg/kg), magnesium (Mg) (mg/kg), calcium (Ca) (mg/kg), titanium (Ti) (mg/kg), nickel (Ni) (mg/kg), copper (Cu) (mg/kg), arsenic (As) (mg/kg), cadmium (Cd) (mg/kg) and lead (Pb) (mg/kg) in the soil extractable fraction. The parameters measured were soil organic matter (SOM) (%), inorganic carbon (%), titanium (Ti) (mg/kg), nickel (Ni) (mg/kg), copper (Cu) (mg/kg), arsenic (As) (mg/kg), cadmium (Cd) (mg/kg) and lead (Pb) (mg/kg) in the bulk fraction. The parameters measured were titanium (Ti) (mg/kg), nickel (Ni) (mg/kg), copper (Cu) (mg/kg), arsenic (As) (mg/kg), cadmium (Cd) (mg/kg) and lead (Pb) (mg/kg) in the fine fraction.
