The Mefite of the Ansanto Valley is one of Earth's largest non volcanic CO2 gas emissions (cold natural carbon dioxide springs). Here we present an integrated investigation of the microbial diversity associated with the mud soil through high throughput sequencing of the 16S rRNA and ITS2 coupled to the geochemical characterization of the site.
