The Practice of Quality Control of Full-course Administration for intravenous antineoplasitc Agents in a Hospital

Objective To provide reference for the rational use of intravenous antineoplastic agents. Methods Through summarizing the problems existing in the use of intravenous antineoplasitc agents in our hospital, the corresponding measures were formulated. The quality management team was established; then the system was updated and the process was optimized; the information system was improved; the training of personnel was also strengthened. And the comprehensive quality control of intravenous anti-tumor drugs were implemented by before, during and after administration. The quality control effect was compared before and after the implementation. Results Firstly, medication safety for patients was improved after the implementation of quality control of the whole process of drug administration. On the one hand, the rationality of medical orders were ensured and the batches of infusion were correctly divided; On the other hand, the accuracy of drug administration wad greatly improved. 8 months later, the qualified rates of the use of clinical special infusion sets, the infusion time and the interval time of sequential dependent anti-tumor drugs increased from 49.5%, 64.3%, 39.0% before implementating quality control of full-course administration (November 2020-June 2021) to 97.5%, 75.5% and 70.6% (P<0.01) after implementating quality control of full-course administration (July 2021-February 2022). Secondly, the satisfaction of clinical nurses was improved through the labeling of finished infusion labels and the popular science knowledge publicity of wechat public account. Conclusions The quality control mode of full-course administration for antineoplastic agents can promote the rational use of intravenous antineoplastic drugs.
