we genotyped 100 unrelated healthy individuals for four previously known and four novel microsatellite markers flanking the GJB2 gene. We also validated the markers on 10 single blastomeres using single cell semi-nested PCR and Whole-genome amplification reaction to evaluate their applicability to hearing loss preimplantation genetic diagnosis. Our findings confirm that a combination of these eight microsatellite markers is an informative tool for performing preimplantation genetic diagnosis of hearing loss due to GJB2 mutations. We believe that the findings presented in our paper will effectively help to prevent the born of deaf children.
