PSYCHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF IDENTITY CRISIS IN DEVIANT ADOLESCENT GIRLS UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF SOCIAL MEDIA

The rapid expansion of social media has significantly transformed adolescents’ socialization processes, particularly affecting identity formation. Adolescent girls are especially vulnerable to the influence of virtual environments due to their heightened emotional sensitivity, need for social approval, and ongoing self-identification processes. This study investigates the psychological characteristics of identity crisis among deviant adolescent girls influenced by social media. The research analyzes the relationships between social media dependency, self-esteem, social comparison, emotional instability, and deviant behavioral tendencies. The findings indicate that excessive engagement with social networking platforms contributes to identity confusion, increased emotional vulnerability, reduced self-concept clarity, and a greater likelihood of deviant behavior. The study highlights the importance of developing preventive psychological interventions and digital literacy programs aimed at promoting healthy identity development among adolescent girls.
