A newly recorded bruchid beetle, Acanthoscelides macrophthalmus (Schaeffer, 1907) attcking seeds of Leucaena leucocephala was found by authors in February, 2004 at Hengchun, Pingtung, Taiwan. Information on the distribution and host plants in other countries and areas are discussed. The distribution of this burchid species in Taiwan, diagonostic morphology, photography, and preliminary observation of observation of life history are reported.
